Calgary is hard on windows. Temperatures regularly drop well below -20°C, Chinook winds can change conditions within hours, and the air stays dry year-round. These swings put constant stress on seals, frames and glass, so specifications matter more here than in milder cities.
For Calgary homes we typically recommend:
Calgary is one of Canada's most hail-prone cities. Hail can crack or shatter glass, dent and split frames and capping, tear screens, and damage seals, letting in drafts and moisture long after the storm.
For better resistance, ask about laminated or impact-resistant glass options.

May 3 doors were installed and completed on January 22nd by Canadian Choice Windows. They did a good job. Thank you so much to the installer (I forgot their name) and to the project manager, Igor.
Amazing experience from start to finish. Igor, our sales representative was professional, honest, and incredibly helpful in choosing the right windows for our home. We were lucky to get a fantastic installation crew — Ivan, Alex, Denis, and Nick — were outstanding and they did an amazing job. They worked efficiently, paid attention to every detail, and left everything spotless.
You can tell they take great pride in their work.

This is the second time I have used Canadian Choice Windows for an install. Both times have been a very positive experience.
- Window measuring and quoting was great. Super quick to get the process going.
- Window install was great. The crew was very professional and efficient. They even pointed out a rotten frame piece and replaced that before the window install.
- Construction clean up and window removal was thorough.
Highly recommend CCWD!

I had a fantastic experience with Alex K, who came to repair my window. From start to finish, he was professional, punctual, and clearly knew his craft. He quickly diagnosed the issue, explained what needed to be done, and got the repair completed efficiently with great attention to detail. The window looks perfect now — no mess left behind, and the workmanship is top-notch. It’s refreshing to deal with someone who takes pride in their work and delivers exactly what they promise.
Highly recommend Alex K for any glass or window repair — you won’t be disappointed!
This is one of the several 3 pane windows we had replaced by Canadian Choice this week. We are so pleased with the windows and the service:
We woke up this morning to snow and a cold wind and could not even feel the cold on the window pane inside. Outside was ice from freezing rain and snow. Inside was toasty. Our furnace is not running as much either already. So so good.
Their respect of our wishes during the consult as well as our home during installation was so great. They even were willing to help us out as we could not fully prep for the install after my hubby had a bad fall and needed shoulder surgery a few days before. They removed any last drapes and items prior to starting that I could not get to.
The product is wonderful as is the in person service.
Excellent Choice
We made the right choice when we went with Canadian Choice Windows and Doors. From the first call to getting a quote done to the completion it was a great and fantastic experience. Our sales person Igor was excellent. Very knowledgeable and professional. He did not try to upsell us or be pushy. He came on time and was prepared. He told us that the windows and doors would be installed at the end of October and he was correct. Aleks came and double checked the measurements and was very pleasant.
The installation process was excellent as well. We got an email letting us know the windows and doors arrived and the dates for install. The installation crew was on time. They used drop sheets to cover our floor and started right away. The windows look great. Our neighbours have come to tell us that the windows and doors look great. One of our neighbours is now getting their windows and doors done through them as well.
If you are looking to get your windows and doors replaced, we strongly recommend Canadian Choice Windows and Doors and you won’t be disappointed.

When replacing windows in Calgary, it’s important to take into account such factors as size, customization, and the number of windows you need to calculate the cost. To get an accurate estimate from Canadian Choice Windows & Doors for your new windows in Calgary, visit replacement window costs page.
Yes! Replacing all of your windows at once is typically more cost-effective than replacing them one by one. The process is more efficient and the cost of doing a larger project is usually lower than the price of replacing each window individually.
Is there a draft coming in? Have your windows started fogging up, cracking, or becoming difficult to open? These could be signs that it’s time for a replacement! Windows typically last between 15 and 20 years, but certain circumstances may warrant a sooner replacement. If you notice your windows are exhibiting signs of cracks, warps, damages, or the frame is breaking, or if your energy bills seem unusually high, consider reaching out to us for a free window replacement estimate. Schedule your appointment.
Indeed, our customers have experienced up to a 30% decrease in their energy bills after window replacement! However, keep in mind that total energy savings can fluctuate between different households due to other variables like the quality of insulation and weatherproofing.
In general, the best time to replace windows is when the weather is neither extremely hot nor excessively cold. However, our team of highly skilled installers is capable of installing windows throughout the year, including during the winter season.
Absolutely! Our triple-pane windows are engineered to deliver exceptional sound-reduction performance, creating a quieter and more comfortable indoor environment. In addition to minimizing exterior noise, they provide superior thermal insulation, helping maintain consistent indoor temperatures year-round.
For homeowners seeking the highest level of sound control, we also offer laminated glass options, designed to further reduce noise transmission while enhancing overall window performance. Together, these advanced glazing solutions combine comfort, energy efficiency, and acoustic protection for superior living quality.
Yes, we do offer repair and service for our replacement windows on a case-by-case basis. We understand the importance of keeping your home warm, cozy, and well-insulated. While we strive to accommodate all repair requests, please note that if a significant amount of time has passed, it may be challenging to find an exact match for the parts of your existing windows. However, our dedicated team will make every effort to match the repairs to your windows as closely as possible.
Calgary winters are long, dry and often very cold. Triple-pane windows with proper sealing and insulated frames are typically recommended for improved thermal performance. Look for ENERGY STAR® certified windows. Canada uses one national standard, so the label means the same in Calgary as anywhere else in the country.
Triple-pane windows are designed to reduce heat loss during Calgary’s long winter months. Many homeowners notice that rooms feel more consistently warm — without the thermostat working overtime. While actual savings depend on your home’s insulation and existing window condition, upgrading from older double-pane units can help improve comfort and reduce heating strain when temperatures drop well below freezing.
Most residential window replacement projects in Calgary are completed within one to two days, depending on the number of windows and structural conditions. Larger projects may require additional time, but in most cases, the process is completed well before you’ve had time to miss your old windows.
Calgary’s climate includes dry air, strong prairie winds and rapid temperature fluctuations throughout the year. These conditions place additional demand on window insulation, sealing and frame durability — because in Calgary, the weather rarely stays the same for long. Designed specifically for Canada’s climate, our Energy Star®–certified double- and triple-pane windows feature advanced sealing technology to effectively block drafts and retain indoor warmth. Engineered for superior thermal performance, they help protect your home from extreme cold, reduce heat loss, and improve overall comfort. It’s this level of performance that inspired the name DraftLOCK™.
Replacement windows pricing in Calgary is a very important factor for most homeowners, and ultimately, it is the biggest factor when it comes to making important decisions. We will work with you to provide free, accurate estimates.
Getting the right replacement windows can seem intimidating, especially if cost is a concern. But just because something usually costs a lot of money doesn’t mean that it always has to be that expensive.
There are several different things that make replacement windows in Calgary unique. These include the window style, the number of panes of glass, and even the materials from which the frames are made. You should understand the variations and how they work together in order to purchase the best possible windows to suit your home’s unique needs.
If you are wondering when to replace windows in Calgary to get the best results, there are two different ways to answer this question. First, you might be wondering about the signs that your old windows have become outdated and inefficient. On the other hand, you might be curious as to the best time of year to complete your replacement project to avoid discomfort, prolonged waits, or extra charges.
Getting replacement windows is a very good idea. In time, these new windows will pay for themselves. That doesn’t mean that the installation cost isn’t something you might have to save up for, though.
