Is it cheaper to replace all windows at once?

Yes, it is. There are a number of reasons why replacing all your windows at once is cheaper than replacing them one by one. The window installation process is much more efficient when all of your windows are replaced at the same time, along with the fact that a larger project will present a more efficient price than the cost of replacing each individual window.

Can you offer financing options for replacement windows?

Yes, we can! We partner with Vault Pay, which means you can access pre-approval for 6 months of no interest and no payments - fast, flexible, and hassle-free. Visit windows financing for more information on your financing options.

Are Canadian Choice Windows and Doors made in Canada?

All of our products are assembled here in Ontario, Canada. Some individual parts for our windows or exterior doors may be manufactured in Europe, but all products are vetted by our team to ensure they are top-quality materials!

Are your windows suitable for Canadian winters?

No one understands cold winters like Canadians! Our Energy-Star-certified double-paned windows are tightly sealed to withstand the coldest winter breeze from penetrating the home. They are called DraftLockTM for a reason, eh?

How do you clean Vinyl Windows (glass & frames)?

To keep your Vinyl Windows clean, create a gentle mixture of soap and water to wash the vinyl window frame and trim. Start by rinsing the area with clean water, then use the soapy mix to clean it. Use a sponge or a soft brush to remove any dirt. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water and use a microfiber cloth to dry the window.

When is it time to replace windows?

Do you feel that draft coming in? Are your windows fogging up, looking cracked, or just not opening like they used to? It might be time to replace them! The typical lifespan of windows is 15 to 20 years, but they may need to be replaced sooner. If your windows are showing signs of cracks, warps, damage, or breakage in the frame, or if your heating & cooling bills are getting just a little too high, give us a call for a free estimate for fresh new windows. Book an appointment here.

What is condensation and how do you control it?

Is there a chill outside, but nice and toasty in the home? Condensation often occurs on windows because their surfaces are colder than the walls of a nicely insulated home. There are a few quick ways to prevent this type of condensation: use a dehumidifier, open windows for ventilation, or operating exhaust fans in the bathroom or kitchen.

Since the condensation is coming from the humidity in the home, try using a hygrometer. Hygrometers can be used to keep track of temperature changes within in the home and help you take appropriate steps to reduce humidity and condensation. Keep in mind that condensation appearing between the panes of double or triple-pane windows could mean a leak, and that could lead to further problems if not fixed promptly. Not sure if have a leak? Book a free consultation today, we are happy to help!

Why are my windows leaking?

Frequently used windows are prone to developing air and water leaks over time, a condition known as air and water infiltration. Water infiltration is typically more noticeable, as it causes condensation on the windowsill. This happens because windows are designed with weep holes that let the internal water drain, which can result in water buildup on the windowsill during certain weather conditions.

Will my energy bill be lower if I install quality replacement windows?

Our customers have saved up to 30% on their energy bills after replacing windows! Total energy savings will vary from household to household due to other factors like insulation, and weatherproofing.

What is energy loss?

Energy loss is when warm indoor air loses its energy by transferring it to the window, becoming cold, and settling at the bottom of the room. The cold outdoor air gains energy by hitting the windowpane, then rises as warm air, creating a continuous cycle of heat transfer. It can make your home colder and less comfortable, and increase your heating bill! Book an in-home estimate today to see how you can stop energy loss in your home.

Do you provide a free estimate?

Yes, we provide free estimates! With a quick visit to your home at a time that is convenient for you, we will provide a no-obligation estimate FREE of charge. Click here to book your free in-home estimate.

Do you do price match?

We are happy to offer a price match guarantee. We will match the written price of a competitor, no questions asked! Price matches are offered up until one week after your order is placed. After the one-week time period, we are no longer able to offer a price match.

Is vinyl a good choice for my windows?

There are many material and design options available for new windows! Our team will walk you through recommendations based on your specific project.

What is low-e glass?

Low-E (low emissivity) glass coating is a transparent metallic layer applied to glass surfaces to enhance energy efficiency. It allows short-wave solar energy to enter the building while reflecting long-wave infrared energy, which is crucial in maintaining heat during the winter. Let’s keep the warmth in! Low-e glass helps to retain the sun’s energy while limiting heat loss from inside the home. This coating is particularly useful in colder regions (looking at you, Canada) where keeping warmth indoors is essential to avoid using electric or furnace heat. Want to learn more? Check out our article What are low-E coatings?

What is “window sweating”

During the colder months, windows and sliding glass doors may experience condensation, also known as "sweaty windows," due to low temperatures and high humidity. This can obstruct the view, cause water to drip onto the floor, and even freeze on the glass. When it gets too cold out, but stays nice and warm in the home, your windows may sweat. This is less likely to occur on walls that tend to have higher temperatures that disperse the moisture.

Why is it important? Severe cases of window sweating can lead to the growth of mould or mildew, so it’s important to have a professional address the issue as soon as possible. Are you experiencing window sweating in your home? Contact us today for a professional opinion: https://www.windowscanada.com/contact-us.html

Do I need UV protection?

UV protection is always a safe bet, for any home. Our sealed units are equipped with LowE coating, offering UV protection, and ensuring year-round comfort regardless of the weather conditions. During the summer, the LowE coating effectively blocks heat and harmful UV rays from entering, while in the winter, it acts as an insulator, preventing heat loss to the outside and maintain a warm and cozy environment. It is a popular choice among homeowners because it is both cost-effective and lightweight.

Do you provide an energy audit?

We are happy to provide free in-home energy audits to help you understand exactly where your home needs to be optimized in order to save you money on your energy bills for years to come. Book a consultation with us to get started! https://www.windowscanada.com/appointment/

What is U-Value and R-Value?

U-Value shows how much heat loss is happening to a specific window. A 0.1 U-value is very little heat loss, while a 1.0 would be high heat loss. The R-Value is the overall insulating value of a window. A good R-value range is usually greater than R-5.

Can you install windows in winter?

Generally, the ideal time to replace a window is when the weather is not too hot, but not too cold. That being said, our highly skilled team of installers are able to install windows year-round.

Do you offer custom-size windows?

As we manufacture our products, we’re able to offer fully customized windows from one-of-a-kind sizes and shapes to unique colours. Contact our team to get started on your custom project: https://www.windowscanada.com/contact-us.html

Where are your windows manufactured?

All of our products are manufactured at our local Canadian Choice Windows and Doors facility in Ontario, Canada.

How do you prepare for window installation?

If this is your first time replacing your windows, you might feel a bit overwhelmed – that’s why our team is here for you. Not only will we provide you with a quick step-by-step guide on how to prepare, but we will also walk you through the process to ensure that installation day goes off without a hitch.

What is the material for replacement windows?

Our replacement materials are made with Vinyl, which is quite popular due to their durability, low maintenance requirements and energy efficiency. They provide good insulation (we even have the option to also do foam-filled frame!) and are resistant to moisture and rot. Our vinyl windows come in a variety of colours and styles, so no matter the window, it can suit your home’s décor.

What is the material for entry door systems?

Our entry doors are made from steel. Our steel entry doors are known for their strength, security, and durability. They are resistant to the harsh Canadian weather, cracking, and warping. Our steels doors come in a variety of colours and styles, and have an insulated core for energy efficiency.

Do you provide financing?

We offer plenty of flexible financing options and payment plans, along with supporting you through the grant process to ensure you maximize your return. Contact our financing team to learn more about the options available to you: https://www.windowscanada.com/contact-us.html

Are your windows soundproof?

Our triple-pane windows provide the added benefits of soundproofing and greater temperature control. They are also recognised by the HER+ programme and offer a $325 rebate per opening.

Do you repair and service replacement windows?

We do offer repair and service on our products on a case-by-case situation. We want to make sure that every home is warm, cozy and insulated! That being said, if a large amount of time has passed, it may be difficult to find a matching part to your pre-existing windows, but we will try to match the repairs to your windows the best we can!

Can you measure for replacement windows?

During your free in-home estimate, your sales rep will measure your existing windows and provide recommendations for your replacement windows.

Do you produce fiberglass doors?

No, we do not manufacture or install fiberglass doors. Our expertise is in vinyl window replacements and installations.
